Thank You
for supporting 10 events over 14 years!
We just wrapped up the 10th iteration of our little homegrown event, and what a party it was! We had some incredible instructors teaching our workshops, and the Keenan McKenzie Orchestra practically tore the roof off of the UGA Dance Building with two nights of incredible big band music.

We also want to extend a huge congratulations to our Open Mix & Match winners, Kemper and Laura!

Our Ask
Classic City Swing has always aimed to provide a unique, high quality yet affordable event that attracts people from around the country. In our post-COVID community, many regional events are experiencing changes in registration trends, notably with most people registering in the last two weeks (or even few days!) before the event. Small college scenes relying on students to bolster their numbers have struggled to rebuild, and Athens is no exception. Despite these challenges, we at Classic City Swing aimed to put on an event to bring together and inspire our attendees, and we feel that was very successful.
Unfortunately, with all aspirational ideas comes financial risk, and we were unable to draw in the number of attendees we needed to meet costs. The burden to cover these costs falls personally on the organizers. If you are able, please consider making a donation of any size to Classic City Swing.

If you are unable to support CCS financially, please consider the following to support other events out there:
-
REGISTER EARLY. A better picture of attendance will help your organizers know what extras they can provide to make your event experience better.
-
PROMOTE EVENTS to your friends. Events have a limited reach with social media, and word of mouth is always the most powerful motivator.
-
INVEST IN YOUR LOCAL SCENE(S). The more dancers in our local scenes increases the number of people interested and willing to travel to events. This means more people to have fun dances with!
We have already announced it, but Classic City Swing 10 was the last run of the event for the foreseeable future. As organizers, we need to take our time and energy and invest it locally. We hope to rebuild the Athens scene, and when it is ready, we will be eager and excited to bring you Classic City Swing 11.
Until then, thank you for all the wonderful memories over the last 10 events, and we hope to see you on the dance floor soon!
Board of Directors,
Classic City Swing
